Our recent short film project, Melbourne’s first East-West modern fairy tale Wake Her Up, starring Olivia Wang, with its twist of romance and super heroism, has made a splash at the international film festival awards, spanning North America, Europe, Oceania and Asia. As the first step in Melbourne’s cross-cultural modern fantasy film and drama IP series, the film explores themes of magic, good versus evil, love, redemption, and the rise of a female hero, leading a trend towards contemporary cross-cultural fantasy romance between the East and West. About the creative head of the team Olivia Wang: Olivia Wang is an award-winning actress, producer, and cross-cultural and public-spirited arts practitioner. She is the first actor to perform Chinese Australian cross-cultural physical theatre on stage, taking on lead roles in several productions.
As a theatrical cultural exchange ambassador, she is now the head of CROSS ENCOUNTERS, a well-known non-profit performing arts group in Melbourne. Olivia has been nominated for the Victorian Women’s Honor Roll several times in recognition of the changes she has brought to the performing arts profession, as well as her continued contributions to leading the development of cultural exchanges in the performing arts between the East and the West. Olivia Wang’s dedication to showcasing Asian-Australian culture through the performing arts has made a significant impact, earning her the title of the winner of contributions to Arts and Culture award in Yarra. With over ten other nominations in arts and culture fields, Olivia is continuing to enhance multicultural expression. Olivia is recognised as a leader and ambassador for performing arts and cultural exchange.
