Working between Chinese and Australian cultural contexts, Wang’s artistic practice centres on cross-cultural cinema, character-driven performance and embodied screen acting, with an ongoing interest in identity, migration, memory and female subjectivity.
For an artist working across both screen performance and cultural practice, festival environments provide more than opportunities to experience films. They create spaces for observation, dialogue and connection — bringing together different cinematic languages, artistic perspectives and creative communities.

At MIFF 2026, Wang continued to engage with contemporary screen culture while connecting with artists and filmmakers from different cultural and creative backgrounds.
These encounters form part of a broader practice developed through Cross Encounters, a Melbourne-based Chinese–Australian performing arts and cultural initiative focused on artistic exchange, cross-cultural practice and contemporary screen and performance work.
For Cross Encounters, international film festivals are also spaces of creative exchange and cultural dialogue — where emerging relationships can develop through shared experiences of cinema.
